MONA AMER, EGYPT

DR. MONA AMER is associate professor and chair of the AUC Department of Psychology. She is a U.S.-licensed clinical psychologist with 20 years of professional practice as a psychotherapist for adults, children, families, and groups. She obtained her doctorate from the University of Toledo, Ohio, and post-doctoral training from Yale University School of Medicine. Her clinical interests include pre-marital, marital, and divorce counseling; family therapy; adult ADHD; affective and anxiety disorders; and cultural competence training for practitioners working with minority and low-income clients. Her publications include the books Counseling Muslims: Mental Health Issues and Interventions and Handbook of Arab American Psychology. Dr. Amer has received the AUC Excellence in Teaching Award and other awards for teaching innovation.
